Importance of Rehabilitation
The article discusses physical training and medical rehabilitation of U.S. armed forces in special forces. The introduction by the U.S. of physical training and injury rehabilitation techniques used by athletic trainers in professional sports and in sports medicine, including the use of physical therapists, strength coaches and dieticians. The article talks mainly about the importance of preparing your body in the write way to prepare for combat. I think that a lot of times the rehabilitation aspect is overlooked. Whether that is rehabilitation after a workout or after combat. In article it talks about how the Military has always overlooked how we treat the soldier physically. For example in the quote ““People talk about taking care of weapons,” says Mike Sanders, the former University of Denver strength coordinator. “What about human beings? How do we take care of the human being?”” (Page 68). In this quote Sanders is talking about how in the military they treat the weapons so carefully but they don’t necessarily do the same with the soldiers. This is a prime example of how rehabilitation is important for your body, but physical training is not only good for your body it is good for your mind. A lot of times when soldiers come back from combat they have just as many mental problems as they do physical. and sometimes physical training can show a direct correlation between the two becoming healthy. IN conclusion, it is just as important to make sure to rehabilitate your body as it is to prepare your body. If not more important, because if you don’t rehabilitate your body post injury. It is going to be a lot longer before you get to train again.
